Mark Steinnmetz’s book Philip & Micheline documents the end of life as experienced by his parents. Steinmetz uses his camera to share the moments he has witnessed, within which viewers find an intimate portrait of a family’s loss. Steinmetz was born in 1961; he received a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA from Yale University. He has had numerous books published by Nazraeli and his work is in the collections of major museums across the United States including the New York Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Steinmetz received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1994 and now lives in Athens, Georgia where he spends most of his time making photo books.
