Photographer Friso Spoelstra has visited numerous traditional folk festivals in sixteen different European countries during the past ten years and recorded the traditions in his photos. ‘Devils And Angels’ brings these stories together and shows individuality as well as surprising similarities between the various different cultures of ever-growing Europe.
Spoelstra is a documentary photographer from Amsterdam, The Netherlands and a graduate from Gerrit Rietveld Academy.
Lecturis was founded in 1922 as a publishing company. In 1940, printing became its primary activity and in 2010 Lecturis began publishing books again. Lecturis manages the distribution and publication of books with a national, international or local character.
Since 2014 books are being published within three imprints: Lecturis, Dato and Timmer Art Books. Books by Lecturis have a focus on art, (graphic) design and photography. Books by Dato have a cultural historical character and Timmer Art Books focuses on Dutch artists’ monographs.
