Des Histoires is a monograph on the work of artist Michèle Sylvander – presented works from 1993 to 2015 next to pictures coming from the artist’s archives and family. Michèle Sylvander develops artistic work based mainly on photography but also deploys its forms in the installation, drawing and video. The works problematise gender, sexual codes, political, social body, relative to each other. The self-portrait and family life occupy a central place; through them, the artist says the following view which close personal experience contains some form of universality. They also say that there is the social construction node (the “me” in the small game of the family unit as a metonymy of “I” on the big stage of the world).

Michèle Sylvander was born in 1944, and lives and works in Marseille. Her work primarily uses photography, but also uses installation, drawing and video. The self-portrait and family life occupy a central place; through them, she says the following view which close personal experience contains some form of universality.
