Day X is a series of 5 publications, each featuring a one-day collaboration between a writer and a photographer working in Europe.
Book No.4 : “This thing I want, I know not what” is inspired by the writing of Carson McCullers and features Bryony in a double role as performer in front of the camera and as author. Over one sweltering day and night Bryony and Enda take us along and let us dive into the experience of a young woman in search of something.
About the Artists
In her documentary photography Laura Braun focuses on people and their relationship with their everyday environment. She takes a warm and human approach to her subjects and brings a calm aesthetic to her work. Her 2013 book “Métier, Small Businesses in London” was recently included in Martin Parr’s exhibition “Strange and Familiar, Britain as Revealed by International Photographers” at The Barbican, London. She has run Paper Tigers Books since 2011.
Curator Eva Eicker has worked in the Programming Team at The Photographers’ Gallery since 2012 and has a background in exhibitions and publications. She has worked for institutions such as C/O Berlin; Magnum Photos, London; Haus der Kunst, Munich; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York City. She focusses on social and cultural issues for critical engagement within contemporary photography.

Paper Tigers Books is an independent publisher of limited edition artists’ books and multiples founded by photographer Laura Braun in London in 2011 in order to publish her own work as well as that of collaborators and friends.
