Welcome, Passerby (2008-2010) and String of Pearls (2010-2014) focus on small communities undergoing great changes; one appears to be approaching the end of its history, the other is in a process of rapid transformation. Hamilton’s process is similar to that of an ethnographer, spending long periods of time at a particular site. She is interested in making visible the process of change, using photography as a subjective testimony.
Kerstin Hamilton (MFA, School of Photography, University of Gothenburg; BA, Dublin Institute of Technology) is a visual artist based in Gothenburg.
