‘This photobook ‘Makuake’, is inspired by the beginning of photography and tried to recreate a form of light going from one world to another to speak about the mystery of nature and what escapes us. The project, by mixing found images with negative images on photosensitive paper shows the porous border between nature and town in Kyoto, and how time is connected to cycle. I chose portraits and details that were expressing symbolically that relate to ritual between sacred and profane. In the book the different type of images interact at the crossroads between past, present and future. The edition also plays with two parts as two ways to enter this journey.’
