TROMS is what Inger Lise Rasmussen has called her new series of photogravures. With this regional title we are all taken as viewers out to northern Norwegian mountain landscapes that are so remote and magnificent that the longing to take possession of them is coupled with the fear of freezing to death and annihilation. There is no manipulation here, no playing with the illusion or other displacement of reality. In an almost magical way we are drawn in by the lure of these white mountain massifs, where the Norway spruce outlines its black patterns in a calligraphic formal perfection disturbed only by faint signs that two-legged beings have also been here: an electric cable there, a cabin here, – insignificant traces that the next epic winter can easily erase.
