The Photographs reproduced in this book are more than a mere pictorial record of a six week journey through Ireland. They have been selected and arranged in a way that they show a concentrated form all that is essential to a comprehensive impression of the country. It is not our attention to offer the largest possible number of beautiful or agreeable views, but rather to portray the Irish land as they appeared to us in actual fact. In spite of the documentary character of this volume, it is by no means a purely realistic record in pictures. This is due to the personal interest of the photographer, whose work is to portray the atmosphere of his subjects.
